Dalbergia sissou is indigenous to India. It was introduced to Florida in the early 1900s and has flourished. It has been used as ornamental and shade trees since then.
The wood has a beautiful golden brown color with dark contrasting lines. It is a perfect wood for musical instruments, furniture and high end turnings. When cutting a beautiful fragrance is emitted. The wood is very stable and works well with sharp tools.

We have made some beautiful live edge book matched lumber out of some of our rosewood logs. One log was 22” at the tip, 27” at the butt and 9’ long!! Marvelous material for furniture. There are several logs still uncut waiting for the right project. We will have a vacuum kiln soon and will be kiln drying all kinds of urban lumber.

I love lumber and logs!

I would love to just quit my geek job, have someone buy me a big lot and build a Morton building and gift me one of those saws. But, reality is what it is, and I’ll just have to envy those that have those things and those experiences. Thanks for sharing this painful reminder that I can’t do what you’re doing :)

That is one beautiful log. Wish I had a fireplace to hang a mantle.

Sure wish I lived close enough to buy some of that beautiful wood. Looks like a cross between Mahogany and Walnut
