The idea for this piece start off after a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West last month. I was in the gift shop and flipping through a book and saw his Japanese print stand.

My fiancé collects Roseville pottery and the futura hanging basket was a gift I bought last year for his birthday. Well, it was gathering dust waiting to be hung up somewhere and I thought to just use the design of the Japanese print stand and have it be the showcase for the pottery.

This had a couple first for me. Using a biscuit joiner to make the frame and using a dowel jig for the spindles. I altered the original style a bit by not having the frame “floating” off of the ground and creating a little bit more of a shelf underneath the pottery.
