Here is an oak jewelry box I built for my eldest daughter in 2004 way before I started taking pictures of my stuff. She dropped it and the hinges broke but that was all. I drilled out and plugged the screw holes, replaced the Soss hinges for about $7, wiped it down again and it’s as good as new. Figured I’d take the opportunity to post it now.

Made from 5/8 thick red oak. Found the mirror somewhere cheap so I adjusted the inside to fit. Flocked the inside of the trays and it’s held up for 11 years. Surprised me. There is room under the trays to stash stuff. The large tray comes out if you know how to lift it.

I signed the bottom of the drawer with a note in 2004. I added “Repaired in Nov. 2015 by dad. Don’t worry, I still love you. Just don’t drop it again.

This is wonderful! First a beautiful, very well made box that has stood the test of time. Second a box that is destined to be a family heirloom. Very well done and I am sure your Daughter will love it forever! Thanks for sharing.
