Didn’t see too many knife block projects so figured I’d post pictures of one I just completed.
Its walnut with a hard maple stripe and little bit of figured walnut for the sides of the steak knife holder.
I cut the grooves with a dado stack with the exception of the scissor spot which was chiseled out. That was a “must have” order from the wife after everything was glued together :-(
I used blond shellac for my finish and wet sanded to 2000 for a nice smooth finish. I’m happy with how the color and texture turned out but I’m still working on perfecting a technique to get a nice even sheen.

That is nice. You just can’t go wrong with walnut.

Love it, bought some white oak to attempt one as I have outgrown my basic block.
