Turned this lamp down from walnut and maple. I started with 2” square stock, glued the 4 pieces up, cut them into 1 1/2” slices. Drilled holes in the center of each slice and then glued the slices back together along a 1/2” piece of PVC. Each piece is offset 22.5 degrees from the previous slice.
Turned the whole thing down on the lathe, made up a base from another piece of walnut and assembled the lamp portion. I just took a 4” nipple, wrapped one end in masking tape til it fit snug in the PVC and then filled in around it with epoxy-resin. After it cured I ran the cord through and put the rest of the pieces together. About $15 for the lamp parts (not including the bulb).
Sanded out to 500 grit and finished using Deft Danish Oil.
