when i build things i like to take things to the limit and see how they work out. this table was an experiment of that it looks nice and there isent much there but it will hold atleast 240 lbs. it is made out of red oak and has a natural slate tile as the top

It is an interesting design, greygoose01984. I’ve always been fascinated by cantilever designs and I’m curious to know how did you arrive to the number of pounds it could hold? It is an estimation (and if so, how did you made the calculations?) or just empirical experience by bringing a prototype to the limit?
This could help me designing some new stuff.

I like the ZZ top design. Simple but you say strong. What could be better, think of the other applications.
