I would not have wasted your time by posting my first turned items if the difference between the first and second weren’t so comical. The oak that I attempted to use for my first bowl was 300 year old lumber from an antique home. I figured it would offer character. Bad idea. Super punky. Looks like something dug up from Mesopotamia! For my second attempt I went with a boring chunk of dry cherry. ;)

Boy, do I have a LOT to learn about turning.

The first bowl is hard. Glad to see you kept at it. Turned my first bobowl a couple of months ago. Fell in love with it. Now its hard to make anything else! i

Don’t throw that away, Todd. You’ll probably return to it at some later date, when you begin seeing it for what it is: Arte. The second one’s not trash, either. There’s nothing “boring” about Cherry.
