“The mountains are calling and I must go.”—- John Muir

Woods used: poplar, red grandis, walnut and red oak. Finish used: mineral oil.

I liked the idea of incorporating a mountain scene into the lid of this box. I also liked the idea of a 3-D effect.

Boom. Nailed it!

Thank you, fellas. Rob, the only fastener I used was glue. I am not technically sound when it comes to design, so I think that I shoot for visuals mainly. There is usually one or two aspects of my box that I intend on sticking out to the viewer.

Josh, more glued it than nailed it, but it is a fun design. I wonder how it would look with varied colors and a bit closer together? What if the design continued on the inside too? It would work if you tried hinges. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Big Al, yes, I would love to continue experimenting with different colors and whatnot. There are a million ideas in my head but I’M JUST ONE MAN!!!! And I will never stop boxing, don’t you worry!

Thanks everyone else for the comments. :)

This is really really nice piece…would be perfect for an instrument case….I would line it in felt anyway.
