I built this about two years ago, it is a solid Oak Hope Chest. The sides are all held together with wooden dowels and some pocket screws. I was beginning and tested a few things on this one. I saw a while back on TV about wooden hinges, so I made a pair and attached dowels and it works perfectly still.
As this was the first ‘major’ project, it was pretty much straight forward, I have since made a few more and each time experimenting with different joinery to avoid using screws – so far so good.

Thanks, It was a neat way to make the hinges and I am impressed with how well they hold up.
Have your say...
