Started out as a cupboard and got the design from Ejner Handberg’s book, also an excellent demonstration on the Woodwright’s Shop by Roy Underhill.

All pine. Started with the back so the width of the boards after tongue and grooved together determined the overall width. Was going to build the door but my girlfriend needed a place for some books/dvds/games so I moved it in with the intention of adding the door later. After some procrastination on my part we decided it worked better for where it is without the door. Can always add a door later if we change our minds.

Had fun building it and am very happy with how it fits in the space!

Nicely done. I think I like it better without a door!

Somehow adds character—like walking by a room with a partly opend door—you look in!
