Ive been experimenting with stabilizing and dyeing Advan Tech plywood, then turning bottle toppers and pens. I use Cactus Juice sold by Turn Tex. Its a heat activated stabilizing resin that penetrates deep in to the plywood. I put the blanks in a vacuum chamber with the resin and dye, pull a vacuum for a wile then let them soak and off to the toaster oven. If you do a search on Cactus Juice there are a bunch of great You Tube videos on this process.

Nice bottle top and pens Brian, will be following your dying efforts on dying plywood, look good so far. Have never been able to get my colors deep into plywood when using dyes. Thanks for sharing.

I really like what you did here. I looked at your past projects – you are really a dynamic wood turner. Keep it up.
