This area has been in change mode for the past couple of years so hopefully this year we can enjoy it instead of working on it. It is a combination wood working / gardening.

We were tired of getting rained on by our front door and there was a patch of earth that I tried to grow things (including grass) for 8 years with no luck.

We created a nice seating area outside the front door that now has pots of flowers in the planter. The lattus is premade so cheated there but much easer and less expensive. Built the gate into the back yard and the arbour / gate towards the street. I did not know what to do to create an entrance, walking past a neighbours house, I liked there arbour so took my tape measure and some paper over to make patterns and put this one together. You can’t really see it here but the tops of the fence around the water feature have a curved top. I took a dato blade and cut a slot that would goover the top of the lattus then cut two 45 angles on each side of the top then sanded them round. Keeps the rain and snow from settling on the tops.

Now it is a nice closed in area with a water feature. Many mornings and evenings have been spend out there with a coffee in hand listening ot the water. It is funny, people will walk past and look in but they don’t see you sitting inside

Nice job Papabear. You made a real change there.

If you feel bad about “cheating” with the lattice in the woodworking department you can always redeem yourself by posting the same project in HomeRefurbers and, even in GardenTenders. After all, your LumberJocks account is already valid in both of them and you give a much needed helping hand to other Martin’s websites.

Have your say...
