Octagon – Chip Carved, basswood & EZboard

The basswood multi-use octagon is 6” x 1-3/4” with a 3-1/2” recess. Stained with a gel stain. Carving the top is not a problem but when carving the sides it is quite a challenge on the end grain.

The painted EZboard multi-use octagon is 6” x 2” with a 3-1/2” recess. EZboard is a new product I am distributing. It is a 15#/ft3 high-density urethane that carves wonderfully, holds detail and will accept any type of finish. There is no grain to deal with so you can see that I easily carved large chips around the edges without any trouble. Basswood ranges from 20#/ft3 – 37#/ft3 density. EZboard is 15#/ft3 throughout.

EZboard works well with normal woodworking equipment. Boring the 3-1/2” holes was a breeze in EZboard when compared to basswood. Sign makers use high-density urethane. I’m pricing EZboard wholesale so you can try it. Call me or email [email protected] for pricing. I have thicknesses up to 8”!

Thanks for looking and all comments and questions are welcome.

That is some nice work!

My big concern would be screwing up the last, or second to last, carving. But, on the other hand, I can’t carve worth a dang.

What is, we’re do you get EZboard?

EZboard is a lot of fun to carve. I bet you won’t be saying “I can’t carve worth a dang” when carving EZboard!
