I built this cake topper for my daughter’s upcoming wedding. Here is the video of the build.

It is made from walnut and oak. The B and J are my daughter and her fiancĂ©’s initials.

The heart is suspended by a guitar string epoxy’d to a rare earth magnet. The magnet goes into a hole in the top of the arch. A second magnet is epoxy’d into the top of the arch, so the heart is removable and (hypothetically) it can rotate/spin. I found out that the magnets are too strong to allow it to spin, but on the bright side, it holds the weight of the heart easily.

Outstanding project. Good idea with magnets. Only, why hearth is turned bottom up?

I turned it upside down because it was hard to read the initials when it was right side up.
