Solid spalted maple from the yard after a storm, flocked inside, “tongue” oil finish (I like just saying tongue), small barrel hinges allow the swing of the top to clear the base. it is only about 3 1/2” tall and 9” wide, Spalted maple is so beautiful but the different hardness throughout the makes it hard to work with. Once again…the wife kept it, that girl has more jewlry boxes!

That’s a really unusual design. I love it enough that I’m gonna fine the basic concept of a bandsawed lid away for future reference. I like working with spalted wood too.

Nice job. The design compliments the wood. The only problem with the wife having alot of jewelry boxes is if you have to fill them as well

As others have said nice work, I like the original design.

How is the lid attached to the cabinet?

Mighty fine looking jewelry box. I know the feeling, my wife confiscates all the bowls and gadgets that I turn.
