To me they appear to have been worth the tedious effort. Pat yourself on the back for seeing it through.
Well done.

I already finished one set with one coat of black stain and a dark walnut stain over it. And many coats of varnish

How would you finish them? Any ideas? I still get people asking me to make a set so always looking for new ways to finish them.
