I’ve been making a lot of projects for my sons and wanted to find something my daughter would enjoy. I struggled to think of ideas until I opened the latest issue of Wood magazine (October issue) and saw the keepsake box, and immediately knew my daughter would love it. The dimensions are modified to be 6 wide, 8 long, and 3 deep, but the design is the same. The woods are quartersawn white oak and walnut, sealed with spray lacquer. Overall it was a really fun and quick project, and my daughter loves it for her random nick-nacks. She’s only 3 but I’m sure she’ll love it for years to come.

Very nice….I like the contrasting woods and the finish looks great.

Hey I recognized that right away.
You did a real nice job. Should be a nice family heirloom.

Very nice job! Thanks for telling us where you found the plan. I was able to find that issue on line so I can build here in my shop.
I’ve been looking for months for a nice box plan. I intend on building this to put my mothers ashes in and toss the cheap container she is currently in and when I saw your project I really liked it!

Nicely done. I saw the plan when that issue came out and I have been meaning to make one for my mom. I have a beautiful piece of soft wormy maple that would love to be used for just such a project. Thanks for the reminder!
