Nic, this is a well-designed box. The purple and yellow heart accents along with the edge detail add visual interest to the lid of the box. And the corner dovetails add a nice contrast to the maple. I am sure this was well received by the newlyweds.

Great looking box. I enjoy the design on the top with the edge detail and colors. I'm sure it will be in the family for a long time.

I dont think that you can make the posts with a standard dovetail jig. I recently picked up the Incra Ultra Fence( http://www.incra.com/product_rtf_main.htm ) for my new router table i built. It was fairly easy for setup and the fence is absolutely awesome for the precision it gives you. It comes with templates for about 100 different type of joints. the corner post is one of them. Here is a link to youtube to give you the basic idea of what the fence is capable of.

I can give you more detailed directions, but i dont think it can be done without the precision and templates of this fence.

great work. I love the corners. Now i have something new i want to do. How much money do you have invested in the fence system? You are making some impressive boxes and im wanting to start some similiar projects. Im making you my new buddy.

Thank you. I appreciate it. The Fence i got, i traded a buddy for another tool, but new i think they run 220 for the Incra Ultra ,there are a few other fences that Incra makes that will do the same thing. Getting this fence caused a chain of events that ended up costing me a lot of money. I knew it wouldnt fit on my begginer level router table so i purchased the Rockler top, fence and plate combo. I think the rockler table is only 24×36 and the fence requires 36×44 for full funcionality so i built an oak cabinet and extention to the rockler top to fit that approximate size. Since i was buying a new plate i decided to upgrade my router from a Bosch 2.25 to a Frued 3.25 Horse. With the new Router i could finally get the rail and style bits as well as a panel cutter and might as well upgrade all my router bits to accomidate. I still came in under a 100$ total and will post pictures once i completely finish my router cabinet. I would highly suggest the Incra fence however because it made me start to look past my table saw and towards what my router can do for projects.
