I have wanted to make this for long time.
Hardwood door frames found on construction bin, exact type unknown.
1,2kg (42oz) total, 650g (23oz) of lead pellets.
Designed for simplicity of construction, as I am not really skilled with hand tools and sophisticated joinery.

I have seen some mallets with leather covers. Does it really matter?

The leather just helps to keep the mallet from denting whatever it is that you are hitting. Good looking mallet btw.

Great mallet. I need to make one of these myself. I agree with JADobson in that leather is just to prevent the piece from getting damaged.

I like the way that you included the lead fishing sinkers. Nice mallet. Thanks for posting.
