I followed the original plans for a 4’ Prarie Style bookshelf posted in Popular Woodworking Magazine and didn’t like the result. The project was too short for the length of our couches and the middle of the shelves were unsupported to actually hold any weight. On the second try I made several changes: lengthening the project to 5 feet and adding the matching styles in the middle of the shelf for support. Pyramided the style post tops and added breadboards to the ends of each shelf to prevent warping. Quarter sawn White Oak with medium red oak stain and sprayed lacquer finish.

Nicely crafted with very appropriate design modifications.
