A number of LJ’ers have made one of these. Took about an hour total to make. The outlet box has a 60 minute timer which controls one of the outlets. The other is hot all the time. I used a long cord to plug the unit in.
Used a couple scraps of luan and an 8’ 1×2.
Still need to find a place to secure it out of the way. I might caulk the joint between the fan and the frame.

Update (9/3/15): There needs to be a baffle around the fan blade itself to force air to come through the filter, otherwise it pulls dust in through the front (in areas not in front of the fan) and then blows it all over the shop.
-- Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an Hammer.

That’s great. Looks much better than the one by my scroll saw I threw together. It sure works good. Have to clean and change the filter allot.

A piece of screen wire in front of the filter will reduce the frequency of changing the filter. You can vacuum the wire with a shop vac.

Whope, looks real nice. Much nicer than my fan filter Being held by strapping 2 bungee chords.
