Well this turned out to be a great little project and a pretty good mothers day gift. I really got a chance to work on my hand tool skills with the hand cut Mortise & Tenons and (backwards) dovetail. The trick goes without saying, sharp tools!!! My chisels were certainly put to the test. Rounding the corners with my block plane was also a new skill.
I finished this project (oak and mahogany) with boiled linseed oil and 3 coats of shellac. The pictures only show one coat of hand applied shellac, after that I sprayed 2 more coats with my earlex system, i will update the photos soon.

Hey KP
That is one sweet step stool. I really like the wood choices and design.

KP, those are not backwards Dovetails. They are only design elements. The Step Stool looks fantastic.

That’s a very handsome step stool. I like the contrast in the wood’s you chose. The joinery is very interesting, seems to keep your eye searching for more attractive joints. Sure looks solid. Very Nice work kpi314 !
