Built this floating dock from plans I found on the internet @ http://www.canadianfishing.com/dock/index.htm
It is 16ft square.
I stuck to the plans except I used screws to assemble, no nails at all, and I had to assemble the outer frame on land, label all the parts and re-assemble it and complete the construction on the water.
My biggest fear was dropping the impact driver in the water! I used one foam billet as a floating tool platform and my tools survived the project.
I had a helper (Thanks Ted!) for the assembly part in the water, which really is the minimum (2 people) to be able to complete this project.
It was a tough job!

I can only imagine the hardest part was getting the corner “sliders” up and over the posts that had been sunk into the earth for it to float on

Actually the pipes just get dropped in towards the end, when the whole thing is threatening to float away as you work on it, they sink into the bottom enough on their own to keep the dock in place.

Couldn’t help but notice, you got a mighty nice little “water feature” there in the back yard. BTW, what type of wood and finish did you use?

Hi Greg,
I used the new PT lumber micropro sienna, it is not supposed to leach anything into the water.
No finish. I really wanted to use eastern white cedar which has natural rot resistance, but no one could supply it in the dimensions i needed.
