This is a piece that began as a part for a toy I was making. When I saw how truly striking it is on its own, I decided that it’s better for looking at than for playing with. So, I present “Homage to the ‘umble Egg”. It’s 3” Tall and about 1-1/2” in diameter. It’s made of African Zebrawood and finished in shellac. It’s just a pretty thing to dress up a small space in your home or office, no more uselful, really, than a pet rock. Though it just occurred to me that it could be a paperweight, I guess. Naw. It’s art for art’s sake. Why justify it? Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder, innit? It’s rife with symbolism. One of my very earliest pieces on a wood lathe.

Clasic turning project, I would say pretty tricky to make. Your’s turned very nice with this stand bellow.

Lovely piece of wood and a neat shape.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Not a stand. A pedestal. Hence “Homage”.
