Just a small box for my Daughter-in-Law. She just gave birth to my second Grandson. Found the basic design somewhere on the Net and modified it to fit my taste in projects. Used a poor choice of wood so ended up painting the finished project. And thanks to all the LJ members that have given my new build ideas…it has been fun looking thru all the beautiful projects posted over the past 6 years.

What a great looking BS box. I have made that design many times over the years and it has always been well accepted. I like the change you have put into it. The drawers look like the fit very well. The base really sets it off.

I just noticed the city you live in. My wife and her family came from the same town. She has a couple family members that live there. She left there as a young child would revisit every couple of years. Thanks for sharing your idea. And Welcome to LJ’s Great bunch of people from all over the world here.

I too, am not a real fan of painting wood. But in this case I think the result is dramatic.
I mean the whole thing attracts your eye and keeps you looking!

Sometimes my goofs and the resulting fixes have ended up with something even better than originally planned.
Well done, my friend, especially with the design.

The wood used was Mahogany and Poplar. I am not a fan of either of these woods but it was what I had on hand and figured they would work well together. But, when I applied the finish (lacquer) the results looked sub-par at best. Rather have the project painted than a sub-par finish. Live and learn.
