One of L.K. Ventura’s boxes is called Tsunami and is usually a 2 drawer box. She recently designed a one drawer version that I like much better. I think this design is simpler and has better lines.

The wood is Brazillian Cherry (Jatoba) laminated into a block and then disassebled with the band saw and reassembled to create the box out of solid wood look.

A natural stain and several coats of thinned poly are the finishes with a rub down with 0000 steel wool in between coats. The drawers are flocked with wine colored fibers and the pull is standard home center stock.

The box is 9” wide, 4” tall, and 5 1/2” deep.

I had never worked with BC before and learned to respect its hardness with this project.

And if you look back to 2000 you will find a Lois Keener Ventura Tsunami box designed with 4 drawers.
