Variation on a Settle Table

Requested by a friend who was looking for a table for a VERY small apartment.
She had seen a picture of an antique settle table – and loved the basic concept
-the idea that it could be used as a table – a bench and a storage box all in one unit.

But she had two additional needs—
It needed to be taller than normal—worktable/counter height.
And it needed to have a two part top so that it would normally take up less space.
Also—she wanted an antigue look to the piece.
In the orignal tables the top would have just pivoted on the wooden peg.
To meet her need I split the supports and adapted the hinge.

Now that’s a table. I would love to make one of those. Practical. If you made any plans I would love to see them. Really nice.
