Butternut Key Chains

Just some of my practice key chains that I like to carve when watching tv. They are hand carved out of Butternut wood. As you can see by the first two photos I have started to carve them recessed into the wood to prevent the nose from being broken when in use.

Very nice. I think I’d like to try some of them.

They are fun. I start with a 1×1 inch square block about 3 inches tall and use a knife or a small skew. They usually take me about 1 – 1 1/2 hours with staining and to put chains in them. I am making a bunch for door prizes on our motorcycle run we are having in August for the American Legion.

Great carving, I’m sure those will be hit as door prizes
