Bought a lathe and wanted to try it out immediately. I never did woodturning before so i’m really glad i got the shape i wanted out of the piece of oak. Also i need to sharpen the tools that came with my lathe, the previous owner did that a couple of years ago for the last time.

Nice looking little bowl for the first one, but it sure looks like Mahogany to me. Welcome to LJ’s

Thanks! I never questioned it being oak because the person who gave me the piece of wood told me it was oak. But you’re right it’s mahogany. Thanks!
