I turned another in the Japanese pottery style out of a piece of walnut that a lot of people wouldn’t have bothered with. Lots of heavy checking and punky wood but I figured it had something in there. This is what I got 7 1/8” x 2 3/8” finished with Minwax natural stain and rattle can lacquer. I think i will go back and sand it one more time and shoot a couple of more coats on it.

Thanks Dave this tree produced some really nice blanks. Now I have more blanks of all kinds of wood than I can possibly turn so we are selling them now. We have a walnut still standing that has a swollen area of trunk that is over 6’ tall and two men can’t reach around.
