A friend of mine saved some chunks of manzanita from a burn. I’ve been fiddling with them – lots of pretty stuff but it’s all really small.
These two are about an inch in diameter.
Sanded and buffed with carnauba. They’re very hard, like briar (relative, maybe?). The smell is almost the same, even.
These will be pendants.
I’ve made some buttons for my Wife’s crochet projects and a few other things, but these have turned out best so far.

Nice work. I have seen manzanita but never got a chance to work with it. You make what the wood want to be, I say!!

Thanks, Jim. Wood pretty much tells me how it wants to go. In most cases.
