First off let me thank all who have welcomed me so warmly to the LumberJocks. Itsme_TimD mentioned that I should check out this group. I’ve lurked a couple days and really liked the warm & friendly attitude I see. So I here I am.

Here is my most recent project. A LEGO table for our grandsons (5 & 6 years old). We had an old corner computer desk stored knocked down in the garage. No place for the monster in our new house so we deceided best use would be to cut it up and make a 25”x40” LEGO table. Table top is 3/4” particle board. VERY heavy stuff! The 18” x 6” legs were made from the shelves of the computer deck. Overall design was based on an article I found in an old woodworking magazine.

Some red oak I had was used for the edging of the table top. Attached with glue and finishing nails.

After careful masking by Papa, paint crew applied liberal coats of Krylon spray. We only needed to buy 2 colors as we had the other 2 in stock.

Here in Phoenix, the Krylon drys very quickly. While paint dryed, crew had a snack/juice break. Papa remasks for the next color and another color was applied.

Last pix is of the inspector checking finished table for wobble. He found none. Now we just need to find the LEGO plates to glue onto the table top.

Not pictured is a birch plywood top that Nana suggested so table could be used for coloring etc. when needed. (Nana is always right!) This was sprayed with some leftover spray polyurathane.

Overall a real fun project. Helped me pass the time waiting for the phone to ring regarding work. We were able to use material on hand so very little $$ needed for a badly needed place to build LEGO projects. All we purchased was a fresh bottle of glue and 2 cans of Krylon spray paint so the price was right. Also used up that darn big odd shaped top from the corner PC desk that seems to always in my way. Best of all, the grandsons and I had a great time working together, hammering, sanding (lots of sanding…5 & 6 yr olds LOVE sanding!), drilling and, best of all, spraying paint.

Great job, but I can see you had a lot of help. :-)
