Sometimes wood turnings don’t have to be round, this is one example of that. This series is called “Petrified Shields”. I turn these sculptural pieces with the sields making them look as though they are being excuvated from the stone they have been buried in. The wood for this piece is 26 by 12 inches and is curly maple. The base for the stand is walnut. Mounted on copper.
