I went to China for Chinese New Year last February and bought a couple of hand fans as gifts (obviously machine made). Got home and realized that to display them, you’d need to hang it somehow or prop it up against something.
So I decided to build stands with Asian flavor and this is the result. The pieces are 1/4” square blackwood.
Being so small, they were hard to work with on the table saw until I made a small parts sled (to be posted later).
Even after that it was still a challenge. But lots of fun. The stands are very light and the fan sits freely on the stand. A bit susceptible to a light breeze.
No finish. And the 3-piece joints are glue-less. Used clothespins for clamps. Angles are 22.5 degrees.
