I built this about a year ago, just before my son was born. Needless to say, I have not been in the shop or around this site since the little guy came along.

I’m not pleased with these pics, but I think you get the idea.

It’s laminated Cherry with Walnut legs and padauk inlay. The Cherry was actually three left over pieces from another project. I was able to get some really great flow out of the grain pattern.

I wanted to avoid building a skirt, so I did some crazy shit to attach the legs. I actually turned the top ends round, then set them into round mortises on the table top and then tightened them further with wedges. I carved out squares on the table top to hide the joint and then inlaid padauk over them.

The drawer was a simple slide on wood rails, fastened with dowel pins.

There isn’t a piece of metal anywhere in this table. I was afraid it would suffer structurally, but it will actually hold my weight without a bit of give (and I’m a huge guy)...
