I made this bird feeder after I bought my Incra 1000HD miter gauge. I wanted to experiment with angles. The angles were spot on. The patients came from individually measuring, cutting and glueing 144 roof tiles. What was I thinking?

Great job! There must be software that can give you the dimensions. Anyone?

Well, it just depends on how much you enjoyed the exercise. If you appreciate the end result, then it’s all good. The birds for sure don’t care; they will still poop on your stuff just the same. OTOH, I like the precision with which it was made. Very nice, and the skills translate to larger projects well.

I’m over on the other side with this. Birds are on their own as far as I am concerned (further, I believe that a disservice is done by placing bird feeders, but that’s just me), but my wife likes to feed them. Bird feeders here come from LOWE’S. The only input I have on them is how they get hung, and how much cayenne pepper gets sprinkled on them and the food to keep the squirrels from eating the birdseed. Birds can’t taste it, but the squirrels can.

Food for thought.
Glue up all the planks together in long sections then cut the angles all at once for each section.

Woodust just took this project from my “admirable- don’t have the patience” list to my “doable” list. Thank you both woodust and pressjockey. WOOHOOO!.

Have your say...
