Experimental small box using soft maple I milled from a tree a friend cut down, scraps of cherry and asian striped ebony accents. Next will be learning some new hinge and latch techniques. These were pretty rudimentary.

I like it. It’s like a box of chocolates! Nice work.

Nice job.

Good luck practicing new hinge and latch techniques. As I see it, boxmaking consists of three major parts:

1) the actual woodworking
2) installing hardware
3) the finish

No matter how great a job you do on #1…. #2 and/or #3 can ruin it for you. :-)

Yes, Charlie actually #3 is the key. I actually have more to learn there than #2! I like your “credo”...have lots of “kindling” as a result!

Thanks for the comments all!

I am so proud of what you do, Tom. Your Papa and Dad would be so proud. I love my box. Mom
