My Fiancee is always complaing there is nowhere to hang coats or put keys in our house. So while I waited for the first coat of minwax to dry, on the little plant stand I made her. I decided I would yry and solve this problem. First I took 3 of the steps from an old oak staircase my dad gave me and started cutting dados. (This would have gone faster if I owned dado blades or if I used my router.) Before I knew it I had made this cubby/shelf/coat hook thingy. Covered it with linseed oil, and hung it with a french cleat. This is my first project that I’m not botherd by its flaws. Even though I still see them.

don’t talk about flaws, talk about the character of the piece.

It looks great! Flaws are a reminder that improvement can be made. That said your work is way above those that have no skill, no ability, and no drive to make the attempt in the first place. You saw a need, you found a solution, nice.

It makes me feel so much better to see a post of something beautiful from somebody who mentioned “flaws” since I pretty much HATE everything I’ve made so far. As dumb as it sounds, it’s reassuring to know people see the same things in their own amazing work.

Nice job, both on the project AND appeasing the fiancé!
