well they are both pine boxes, purple heart is the other wood, both about 9×5x3, nothing inside but felt, and they both have any finish on them, just a nice sanding

yes the one with the lap joints has curved sides and top, since its pine i just did it on the belt sander, it was really easy and gives it a nice look, i cant believe how easy it was to get the sides all the same curve

thanks for the comments

These are beautiful boxes. Are they jewellery boxes? It would be nice if you briefly tell the dimensions, the wood(s) used and the finish applied.

Very nice, the half/half box joint(?) on the domed box is joinery we don’t see here very often.. Is there a slight round over to the sides of that one? Both great looking boxes. Keep ‘em coming.

Both are very interesting boxes. I like the way the top works on the non-rounded one (assuming it works the way I think it does, of course ;-]

about the hinges on the flat one, i drilled holes on the inside of the box and outside of the lid and put dowels in them, i have done this before and it works great, a secret i use is to put a spring in the hole on the lid and hold in the dowel, then slide it in place, then if there is ever a problem you can get it apart if you have some very small picks and are patient
