Hi Everyone!
Here is a picture of a cool new squirrel feeder I built using a Meisel Hardware print. It is made of cedar lumber and is finished with exterior paints. Of course, as a John Deere fan, I had to paint it green and yellow! The jar that holds the corn cob is a 1 gallon plastic jar available from Meisel. The squirrel accesses the corn by crawling through the cab and into the jar. (as seen in the fourth picture) I have had it up for about a week now and have yet to see a squirrel in it. However, I am certain they will love this new feeder once they find it…perhaps I will give them a little help by scattering some corn on the ground below it.
Thanks for looking!

Very cute but how does the squirrel get to the corn? Is there a breathing hole for it so it won’t suffocate?

Oh I have no doubt that they’ll find it. And you’ll have to put a new cob in it about 10 times a day !

Pretty cool

You ban get nice jars like that full of very good pretzels at K-Mart—then you feed people and squirrels!

Lets hope the squirrels find it before a little boy does, I reckon if it was me I would be having that tractor down and into my sand pit PDQ.

Good job

A squirrel would have to be blind not to see it and the corn! yumiee

Love it. Reminds me of driving John Deere tractors with my grandfather.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments…glad you like the project! No worries about the safety of the squirrel, the ‘cab’ is open to the air and so is the entrance to the bottle that holds the corn. Pictures three and four show this best.
