Finally finished my top for my Robou workbench. I made so many mistakes on this, but learned a ton. This is just version 1.0. I already have the wood for a ten footer. This one is about 6 feet long. It is made out of two slabs of white oak glued together with a large tongue and groove joint. The dog holes are routed into the slab, which is a little different than the normal method of doing it in the front laminate. My front and back laminates are made out of old growth doug fir. I made the large Condor Tail dove tails from a method described in Popular Woodworking. I would have waited to post when everything was done, but I’m getting deployed for nine months to the Middle East and could not wait to share.

That pile of oak was nothing but a dream, you’re making it happen! Very nice work!

Very nice. I just finished a bench as well, so I can appreciate the hard work that went in to your top. Looking forward to the finished product.

Have your say...
