These are walnut and maple finger jointed pencil boxes. I found a local small business that laser engraved the art work and text on the lids for less than $10 per box!
The lid simply sides out the right end. The bottom is the same maple as the lid. Nothing special inside, although a felt lining would certaily add to it.
They were a great hit with the well deserving teachers that recieved them.

I’m impressed. Very nice looking pencil boxes. What a great idea. I’ll bet those that recieve these will enjoy them for a lifetime.

Beautiful little boxes, the final result with the engraving is really nice!

Cool… My brother in law just bought a laser. I’m staying in good with him. :) Sure adds a nice touch!

Great looking boxes especially the contrasting woods. Do you have pictures you can share of the interior?

Bio—There is nothing special inside. Other than a gift card when they were given away. It is finished the same and the bottom is the same maple as the lid. I could have added a felt bottom, but as with most projects I was up against a hard deadline!
I added a picture that shows the lid slid open to get a peak inside.

Thanks a lot. I need to do a project like this for some people but I was wondering how most did the interior.
