This little job started with the need for a clothes rack, which now forms the mounting batten for the piece. As you will see, there is already a bookshelf unit in the room, which was designed originally for another location, but I think they work together reasonably well (I’m not scrapping the older unit and making a new single one anyway, so they’ll have to).

12mm plywood with hardwood edging has been used, fixed with housing joints. The plywood is flexing slightly, but going to 18mm would have made the piece too heavy in appearance. 6mm plywood has been used for the back panel, pinned into a rebate and the shelves lending some further support.

Stained with Indian Rosewood, the finish is Danish Oil and then wax polished.

i hope that you like this little piece.
