Wooden Mallet

Most of my woodworking relates to wooden boats, so may not be of much interest to this group, but I do like my home made wooden mallet. I had a scrap of Ipe left over from a workbench that I made, and mated it to a handle I turned in maple. The head is held on with a wedge of Ipe driven into a sawn kerf in the maple handle. It has never threatened to come loose no matter what the abuse.
To give it a proper nautical look I dressed it up with a three strand Turkshead in black seine twine under the head. All in all, I am very pleased with this tool and have used it now for over a decade. Makes me smile every time it comes to hand!
