Over the winter I’ve stepped away from the lathe a bit a been building boxes. I’ve feature three here. The first is Walnut with a Marblewood medallion with a paduk drawer. The second is Ambrosia maple with a red Mali burl medallion and a walnut drawer, finally a small walnut box. first two have felt linings the The walnut was flocked. I’d forgotten how much fun box building can be. Thanks for looking.

Nice work. I like the round over on the edges. The medallions look cool. It’s kind of interesting to me that I am thinking of taking a break from boxes and trying out my new (to me) Nova lathe.
-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and now time to work!!!

Very nice. I like the contrasting woods. My favorite is the second one.

i really like the first two. The rounded tops make them special. And of course, your choice of beautiful woods that work well together.

I like the rounded edged boxes very much..my only nitpick is I would have like the splines in walnut box to be marblewood too. To my eye, that would have tied it all together. But I’m picky & need coffee :-) thanks for sharing these boxes.
Have your say...
