I decided to make a manger about three days before Christmas, so this was a rush job to finish for Christmas Eve. This is the first time I made a build without any plans; it was a lot of fun. Now, there is a problem, is the manger too big or are the figurines too small? As you can see, I had to lay some newspaper down because the finish was still a little wet. I was going to throw out the manger and build a better one for next Christmas. But I decided to keep it, for it kind of grew on me and now I like it. I still might build a better one for next Christmas, but it would stand side by side with this one.

Funny thing about artistic pieces, they always have an unexpected twist to them, making them unique. I say it’s perfect – big manger, little people… very cool. I’d be my mom’s favorite son if I made her something like that. (Never mind I’m her only son…)
Looks great.

I would say it’s ready for an upstairs mother in law apartment. Seriously, how about hanging some of your angels down to hover over the scene, it would take up some of the heigth.
