Really enjoyed creating this jewelry box. I like the appearance many of my fellow LJ have been doing with the radius front. So beginning with that, I used a slab of hickory (no veneer, the real thing). For the drawer fronts. I have been saving some very nice figured walnut for a speciAL project like this.
More pictures available here.
The top opens to a mirror
Left door reveals hooks to hang necklaces
Right door has a decorative panel held by magnet for storage of pierced earings.
Four drawers have a variety of jewelry storage aids for rings, bracelets etc.
February gemstone is Amethyst so I lined the drawers and sides with purple felt.
The “J” was inlaid with 1/8” spacing for black epoxy. It was very difficult holding the “J” in location while trying the get the epoxy in place. The radius front and mu,title drawers complicated the process. But like all good things, the challenge may have been part of the reward. It was finished with two coats of Watco natural and then a finish coat of wax, burnished by hand.

Very unique piece! I like the design and contrasting colors. Nice job on the curved drawer fronts. Thanks for sharing.
