I was looking for a use for the Maple burl I had laying around for a couple of years.
I framed it w/ 6/4 Maple and suspended it with some African Walnut that I distressed with my Sander. It gives the appearance of floating.
Let me know what you think
Mike

I think it is awesome. It’s more like art! Great job in the build and finding this beautiful wood.

I like the natural look of this. Wish my wife would go for it. I could be sleeping under a log.

it’s sometimes hard to find a use for a pretty piece of wood like that without cutting it up and ruining it, great job.

I think a lightbulb just shone. I’ve looked at this slab for almost two years and always thought HEADBOARD. I milled it out of some trash cedar and got the angle just right (to my eye). I didn’t want to put sticks under it. This gives the “float” it needs to make it special.

Sorry for the extra pic. It does show a little Gnome door I made. Walnut & cedar. Dog knocked it out of whack chasing an inhabitant.
