Shadow box coffee table

This was my first real woodworking project, why not start with a coffee table. That is original right??

I bought my first house a few years ago which was an old farm house built in the 1930’s and did major remolding including adding a garage (which was completed after I finished the table, hence I’m working in the yard) It had 1” oak sheathing on the outside, which I saved for a future project.

Since then I got married and my wife asked for a shadow box coffee table. So this is what I came up with. Lots of first on this one and I learned a lot too.
