I’ve always liked the weathered and textured look of certain woods…sorta like getting some good barn wood (is there really a barn tree?) Since I don’t find much barnwood lumber I do my version of creating my own.
After some light sculpting I gave this box a good sandblasting to get this result.

Nice Piece. Looks like you’ve been busy. How long to make this? I’m thinking you have it down to a science (If Murphy doesn’t show up.)

i love the old looking wood, there is a rustic heartbeat to this one and whatever it holds it will be someone’s treasure box, great box greg.

Tom….busy is my middle name cause I really enjoy what I do. This didn’t take long at all…maybe a couple of hours…not counting the drying time of glue and finishes. The sandblasting is slow on oak since it is a hard wood. I have a 5hp Ingersoll Rand compressor with a huge tank and it still is underpowered at times.
Grizzman… Thanks…I know you like the rustic look based from your awesome work and your rustic designs you put into your home. I’m having fun making the new woods look rustic.

I’m sure you can knock em” out fast Tom. You just got to visualize each step and the final look in your mind.

Greg, you are working hard or either playing hard in the shop spitting those projects out, I do recall you mentioning a show coming up. All of my projects are now by way of order request and a trip to the post office, My open top men’s valet boxes are my main seller and my new primary focus.

hey Randy…We have 7 or 8 shows coming up and several others waiting for jury results. Carol and I really enjoy doing the shows and it is especially enjoyable for us since we both love to get on the road and travel.
This past weekend show was great…!
